This month we’re rolling out our Cummins Hero spotlight.
What’s the Cummins Hero spotlight? It’s a monthly series where we’ll share the story of a Cummins Hero nominated through our HERO program.
To get the series started, we’re saluting Charlie Muller, our January Hero. Pastor Charlie, a former Golden Glove Boxer, hung up his gloves to dedicate his life to serving at risk-children that live in poverty-stricken areas in Albany, New York.
A couple of decades ago, Charlie started his work at a volunteer detention center for at-risk boys in Upstate New York, and during his time there, was inspired to start an outreach center in the middle of one of Albany’s poorest neighborhoods. Now, 20 years later, Charlie has two food banks that serve more than 30,000 meals a year. Plus, Charlie isn’t just working to fight childhood hunger – he has also implemented free summer camps and programs that provide kids help with their homework.
Charlie’s neighbor nominated him and brought attention to his work with the local community, where his new City Kids food truck program helps to provide children with healthy, nutritious meals.
Nominate Your Hero Today
Real heroes are all around us, making the world a better place each day. They come in all shapes and sizes and from every walk of life. And the thing is, most heroes don’t even think of themselves that way.
At Cummins, we’d like to change all that, but we need your help to do it. Do you know a hero? Someone who goes above and beyond to make your community a better place or gives their time or talent to improve the lives of others in your community?
If you know someone like Charlie, who goes above and beyond to improve the community or the lives of others, take a few minutes to tell us all about them. Learn more and fill out a nomination form by visiting our site.
